The Charting the LifeCourse Framework was created by families to help individuals and families of all abilities and all ages develop a vision for a good life, think about what they need to know and do, identify how to find or develop supports, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live. This universally-designed framework may be used by any person or family making a life plan, regardless of life circumstances.

The Bureau of Early Intervention Services and Family Supports (BEISFS) Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) supports families in meeting the developmental needs of their children. To enhance families’ knowledge and skills, BEISFS has a range of resources for families in Early Intervention.

This publication is intended to help parents of children receiving Early Intervention understand their procedural safeguards, parent rights and how to problem solve when they have concerns about their child’s early intervention program.

The transition resources were compiled to help inform families and professionals on the transition process. A family video on transition to school, a resource library,  links to publications, and other relevant information are available.

Community, Parent, Training and Resource Centers

The PEAL Center helps families and individuals with disabilities and special health care needs using a variety of strategies across PEAL Projects.  PEAL offers services in six key areas: outreach, individual assistance, resources, trainings, leadership development and partnerships.

HUNE provides free bilingual English and Spanish training, technical assistance and individual assistance to parents of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and to professionals who work with children. This assistance helps parents to participate more effectively with professionals in meeting the educational needs of children and youth with disabilities.

Disability Rights Pennsylvania (DRP) is a statewide, non-profit corporation designated as the federally-mandated organization to advance and protect the civil rights of adults and children with disabilities.  This website contains links to publications that cover a wide range of topics of interest related to civil rights of people with disabilities.

Serving as a Community Resource Center, Mission Empower provides advocacy, education, and the promotion of inclusion, assisting families and their children with disabilities to enable their children to use their gifts and talents to reach their potential and become productive members of our community.
