This Policy Forum will provide an opportunity for leaders to come together to continue discussions around implementation efforts for Early Intervention Service Delivery in PA. The goal for this event is Appreciating Multiple Perspectives. Participants will be provided with strategies and resources needed for preparing for and beginning implementation of Embedded Instruction.

Adaptive Leadership – Growing Through Change

In this session, participants will learn about elements of adaptive leadership and the skills in preparing for and implementing significant new ways of working.

Making Connections: High-Quality Individual Education Program (IEP) Goals & Embedded Instruction for Cohorts 1 and 2

Presenters:
Dr. Joy Polignano and Kelly Fisher, EITA Consultants

Participants from Cohorts 1 and 2 will utilize their past experiences with Embedded Instruction to examine the connections and differences between high-quality goals and components of the Embedded Instruction for Early Learning Cycle as they continue to follow the implementation guide.

Embedded Instruction Foundations for Cohorts 3 and 4

Presenters:
Dr. Patricia Snyder, Ph.D. Distinguished Professor of Special Education and Early Childhood Studies, University of Florida and
Dr. Darbianne Shannon, Assistant Research Scientist, University of Florida

Participants from Cohorts 3 and 4 will explore foundational concepts of Embedded Instruction. When using Embedded Instruction, EI and ECE professionals work to provide supports to preschool-age children with disabilities to enhance their growth and development in everyday routines and activities at home, in the classroom, and within community settings.

Jodie Holmberg, Facilitator, EITA Project Manager and Panel of Core Leadership Team members from Cohort 1 & Cohort 2

Core Leadership Teams with very different experiences will share information and answer questions about what they have learned in preparing for implementation and how they dealt with challenges they faced.

Presenters:
Dr. Patricia Snyder, Ph.D. Distinguished Professor of Special Education and Early Childhood Studies, University of Florida and
Dr. Darbianne Shannon, Assistant Research Scientist, University of Florida

This session will review the motivation for using Embedded Instruction, and share developments made this far. The presenters will use examples of implementation in several states to illustrate the importance of making local decisions while holding fast to the principles of the strategy being implemented.

Collaborative Discussions for Implementation

Presenter:

Participants will consider the importance of including partners and families from the beginning of exploration and installation so when staff are expected to begin to implement Embedded Instruction, systems and supports are available to help them be successful. This session will include group discussion, brainstorming, and documenting ideas/concerns.
